Fire Marshal

The Fire Marshal’s office is a department within the Town of Wethersfield Public Safety Division. The office is mandated by Connecticut General Statutes to enforce the Connecticut Fire Safety Code, the Connecticut Fire Prevention Code and to investigate all fires and explosions within the town. The office also provides public education programs in schools, at public gatherings and at elderly housing facilities. The Fire Marshal also serves as the town's local open burning official.

The office is made up of a full time Fire Marshal, a part-time Deputy Fire Marshal and part-time Fire Inspectors, all of whom are also members of the volunteer fire department. A detective from the Wethersfield Police Department who has been trained to the level of a Fire Investigator is also assigned to the office. The office provides 24 hour-a-day, 7 day-a-week service to the community.
